Leadership Tip of the Week

Be obsessed with making a difference!

Recently I was watching a Hallmark holiday season movie.  During the movie, one of the characters, an elderly store clerk, told the bitter and harsh store owner (who was the main character), “If you want to be happy make other people happy”. Even though the movie was a bit cheesy, the store clerk was 100% correct in what she said!

If you want to be happy, focus on others and make others happy. In fact, the people in our life who most inspire and empower us are those who care about us, put us first and are always looking to make a difference with us.

So, if you want to be a leader in your personal and professional life do the same. Make sure every interaction and conversation you have with another person leaves them more energized, hopeful, encouraged and empowered. Commit to this. Stand in this premise. Look from there. Always make it about empowering others.

As someone wise once put it: “Be INTERESTED, not INTERESTING.”
