Leadership Tip of the Week

Count your blessings!

Dream big, take on exciting goals in all areas of our life, work hard to realize them (because that is what it often takes), but while doing that fully enjoy the journey, not just the destination.

Don’t get caught up in the rat race of chasing goals. Make sure you make time to stop to smell the roses. Make sure you have time and space to be present in the moment.

Most people who have big ambitions and goals tend to hold themselves to high standards. Often too high. Don’t fall into the trap of over focusing on what’s wrong and what’s not working.  Instead, focus more on what IS working and what you feel grateful for.

Adopt a practice of ending each day with ten minutes of writing down (journaling) the answers to the following questions:

What are four things I accomplished today?

“What are the four things I learned today?”

What are four things I feel blessed and grateful for today?

Even if you had a bad day, or felt that you didn’t accomplish anything meaningful still answer these questions.

Discover your ability to always find things you can claim as accomplishments and the abundance of things you can feel blessed and grateful for.

Standing in that space will enable you to accomplish even more and as important, to enjoy the process.

Unfortunately, when it comes to fulfilling aspirational goals and transformational change, there are two types of leaders: those who stay the course and those who don’t.
